Fred Craddock's Reflections on a Call to Preach

Chalice Press has published a most interesting book. It's not long, but it's insightful and a good read. My review of Fred Craddock's Reflections on My Call to Preach will eventually appear in Congregations, so this isn't a full blown review.

But if you like Craddock, you'll enjoy it. If you're thinking about a call to preach/ministry -- this is a book for you.

This slight book of 117 pages focuses solely on Craddock's first 18 years of life (not ministry). It looks at those important influences on his development as a preacher and on his own sense of call. As you get caught up in his stories, you may find yourself thinking about your own place in ministry - lay or clergy. Oh, and you'll also learn something about his middle initial.
